Jay Bikoff

Principal Investigator

Jay is originally from Huntington, NY. His first exposure to scientific research was at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where he participated in their Partners for the Future high school program and Undergraduate Research Program. He earned his Sc.B. degree in Biology from Brown, and went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Neurobiology at Harvard under the mentorship of Michael Greenberg. After postdoctoral work with Tom Jessell at Columbia, he moved to Memphis in March, 2018, where he is currently an Assistant Member in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. When not in lab or spending time with his two young children, Jay enjoys going to museums and exploring new restaurants, and is currently in search of the best BBQ in Memphis.

Phil Chapman

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Phil is originally from Danville, WV, and earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences from West Virginia University in 2013. An undergraduate course in neuroethology inspired him to pursue a Ph.D. with Dr. Kevin Daly at WVU, where he used in vivo electrophysiology, behavioral analysis, and anatomical tracing to study corollary discharge circuits in insect flight motor networks. He defended his Ph.D in August, 2018, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Outside of the lab, Phil enjoys cycling, camping, and spending time with family.

Alex Trevisan

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Alex was born in West Chester, PA and earned her A.B. in Chemistry from Princeton University, where she worked in the laboratory of Dr. Dorothea Fiedler on the synthesis of inositol pyrophosphate analogs. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2020 from Vanderbilt University, working in Dr. Bruce Carter’s lab to study the influence of peripheral glial cells on nociception. Alex joined the Bikoff lab in June of 2020, where she is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Outside of the lab, Alex enjoys running and horseback riding.
